Kartika - Couture Gown and Upcycled Dress Client

I have had 4 gowns from Vicky over the last 5 years, an event dress for a charity fundraiser, my daughters year 10 formal gown , a rocked-up upcycle of a bridesmaid dress I wore once and most recently my own wedding dress. Each experience was completely different and magical at the same time.

My fundraiser gown was the first time I had a bespoke frock made and fitted perfectly to me. As a plus size client the feeling that came with having a gown that felt and looked beautiful was incredible. It may sound corny but I found it quite an emotional experience after so many years of making do with ‘ill-fitting off the rack same dress as every other plus size woman’ gown.

 When it came to my daughter wanting a ‘showstopper’ gown for her year 10 formal we knew exactly where to go. Vicky was very patient and encouraged her to try on different styles and shapes so she could decide on a dress that felt and looked amazing. After the formal, her Principal who had been working in high schools for 30+ years declared it the most incredible formal gown he had seen in his career!

 After a close friend’s wedding, I had a beautiful off the rack bridesmaid gown that I would never wear again, however it had great sentimental value, so I headed to Vicky to re-style it into a cute, colourful party frock that I could wear again.

Meanwhile, I went on a health mission, losing 47kg between gown one with Vicky, to my wedding gown 5 years later - my ill-fated 2020 elopement to Las Vegas…… thanks to Covid-19 our plans for a small but spectacular, shiny glamorous and very Vegas wedding were cancelled. After a couple months of realising this was not going to let up anytime soon, we decided to go ahead with our plans, but move it to our own backyard, with all the shiny, glam and Vegas feel we could muster. My dream gown was never going to be white. While planning the dress and going over several ideas (that’s code for a 1000+  inspo pins on pinterest) Vicky went on a mission to hunt down a spectacular fabric to bring my dream gown to life. And did she deliver! The fabric was incredible, the way it moved, the way it clung to my body in all the right places, the way it shimmered and sparkled. My Husband had no idea of the colour, the style or what to expect. He was floored. I will never forget the excitement of designing the gown with Vicky, seeing the fabric for the first time, the fittings and watching my gown come together and that feeling on the day.

It is truly a ‘must have’ experience

Vicky not only saw my vision, she absolutely enhanced it. The design was stunning, fittings were a breeze. The craftsmanship is incredibly. The attention to detail, comfort and weight of my headpiece was unbelievable. My headpiece was beyond my wildest dreams, the colours were perfect. Vicky has an amazing talent and a very short turnaround time considering the work that was required. Cannot recommend Vicky and her amazing creations highly enough yes I did wear it to my last team meeting prior to Christmas it is absolutely too gorgeous not to wear....

Kristin Lisa Designs - Sewing Consultation Testimonial 

I am a wedding dress designer in Canada.  When working on a particularly complicated dress design I turned to Youtube videos for instruction.  I found Vicky of Rockstars & Royalty and her amazing videos helped me immensely. Discovering that she did private zoom instructionals specific to your design challenges, I immediately reached out.  Something about her generosity, style, accomplishments and fun nature told me I would get all the answers I needed. Boy, was I right!  In two segments, the first one hour, the second a half an hour, Vicky helped work on some very complicated sewing/design/draping issues. My dress turned out beautifully, and my bride is ecstatic with the end results.

Gone are the days, when talented designers held on to their best kept secrets! Vicky is knowledgeable, caring, professional, helpful and generous with her time and knowledge. She followed up each consultation with clear, concise written instructions for my reference including links to suppliers to find better product at better prices!!

I will definitely be reaching out to Vicky again when I have my next design challenge. Her acumen, reasonable rates and accessibility are worth their weight in gold.
